Cognitive Networks - Elevator Loading Behavior
Early in its development, the cognitive network showed promise in the implementation of a collaborative control scheme amongst numerous interacting agents. A relatively simple and contained simulation exercise was necessary in order to further investigate this capability. One such exercise is the simulated loading of an elevator. People behave in certain semi-predictable ways when in an elevator and the objective of this experiment was to simulate key elements of this behavior through cognitive network controlled agents.
Each agent in this simulation was controlled by a cognitive network and they reacted to only two stimuli: they were attracted to the rear wall of the elevator to stimulate loading and they were repelled from one another. The simulated agents were added to the elevator one at-a-time and their reactions were recorded. The video of the simulated system captures the positioning of the agents and is provided here (27 sec - 0.6 MB).
