Avineon SDLC

The Avineon software development life cycle is based on the Rational Unified Process (RUP) in compliance with SEI CMMI standards and PMI PMBOK best practices. RUP is a UML based object oriented application design methodology. It divides the design process into phases which include: inception, elaboration, construction, and transition. It is well suited to provide the leadership and direction in complex software development and system integration projects. The methodology provides an underlying set of philosophies and practices for successful software development.

Avineon utilizes IBM’s Rational suite of products, some of which include
RequisitePro – Requirements management tool
Rose – UML modeling tool
ClearCase – Versioning tool for software artifact management
ClearQuest – Defect and change tracking

These development tools assist the project team throughout the development process. For instance, RequisitePro ensures that project requirements are traceable backward to business needs and forward to design, code and test objects while Rational Rose is utilized to develop the UML data, object and activity models. Throughout the process, all phases are complemented by a set of predefined artifacts that ensure a common repository and nomenclature for all project data, allowing coordination of multiple project teams working on the varied components of a complex system.
