Avineon Sponsors Golf Tournament Benefitting Special Olympics Virginia-Northern Virginia and Down Syndrome Association of Northern Virginia

Alexandria, Va. – July 13, 2010 – Avineon, Inc., a successful provider of IT, geospatial, engineering, and program management solutions, served as a sponsor for the 6th Annual Special Olympics Virginia-Northern Virginia / Down Syndrome Association of Northern Virginia (DSANV) golf tournament held in Springfield, Va. on June 14, 2010. Avineon supported the event in conjunction with Aerient, LLC, a partner organization supporting the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, to provide monetary and time donations as both a beverage cart and hole sponsor. More than 130 golfers participated in the tournament, which raised more than $40,000 to benefit Special Olympic athletes and individuals with Down Syndrome in Northern Virginia.

“We are grateful for the role that Avineon and all of our sponsors played in making this event possible,” said Bill Ogletree, chairman of Special Olympics Virginia-Northern Virginia. “The money raised in this tournament will help equip Special Olympic athletes, fund competitions, and help those with Down Syndrome in our area to continue being vital contributors to our community.”

The Special Olympics of Virginia-Northern Virginia / Down Syndrome Association of Northern Virginia golf tournament is the latest demonstration of Avineon’s commitment to the Washington, D.C. community. In recent years, the company has contributed to other local fundraising drives, including the Meredith Thompson Memorial Golf Tournament to benefit the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Survivors Benefit Fund (SBF), the American Diabetes Association, and the Fannie Mae Foundation’s Help the Homeless Walkathon on the National Mall. Avineon’s outreach to Washington-area and national organizations includes work with Engineers Without Borders, the Make-a-Wish Foundation, and numerous tutoring programs at local schools.

“We are pleased to have been able to offer our support to the DSANV golf tournament,” said Karlu Rambhala, Avineon’s president and CEO. “The tournament brought our community together in support of an important cause, and we were honored to help make it happen. We take our social and community responsibilities seriously, believing that our mission at Avineon goes beyond our commitment to provide the best information technology solutions.”
