Avineon’s Director of Defense Systems to Discuss Open Architecture at DC-area Navy Opportunity Forum

What:             
Avineon, Inc., a provider of IT, geospatial, engineering, and program management solutions, will be participating in the 2009 Navy Opportunity Forum, which focuses on the latest military open innovation technologies. The Forum will provide attendees with an opportunity to preview, evaluate, and discuss technologies developed by businesses funded by the Navy's Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs. More than 200 technologies will be showcased at the event, which also includes several keynote addresses and panel discussions.

During the Forum, Dr. Scott Starsman, Director of Defense Systems at Avineon, will share insight into effective data transitioning. His presentation, “Transition of Legacy Systems to a Service Oriented Architecture and Cross-Domain Web Services,” will compare features and benefits of various transition tools and services as well as how to respond to customer needs to improve information sharing, reduce system maintenance costs, and improve inter-system interoperability. Starsman will also discuss the benefits of using XML to define requirements, automated legacy application web service transition tools, and web service communication across classification boundaries.

In addition to Starsman’s presentation, Avineon will be exhibiting at booth #512.
