Avineon Appoints Mark O’Connell as Director of Strategic Development
Alexandria, Va. – March 11, 2009 – Avineon, Inc. (www.avineon.com), a successful provider of IT, geospatial, engineering and program management solutions, today announced the appointment of Mark O’Connell as Director of Strategic Development within Avineon’s Federal Systems Division. O’Connell will support federal business development efforts from a strategic planning standpoint and seek to identify new market opportunities for Avineon.
O’Connell’s work experience includes more than eleven years in the U.S. House of Representatives, where he served a four-year term as chief of staff for a veteran representative. He has broad experience in legislative affairs and business development for private industry and served as a Deputy Associate Administrator for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) prior to joining Avineon.

O’Connell’s additional work experience in federal business development included development of legislative strategy for congressional members, maintaining appropriations and authorizations for customers and advancing legislative initiatives and proposals. He holds a Bachelor’s in political science from Virginia Wesleyan College.
