Avineon’s Akhlesh Kaushiva Appointed to Geospatial Information and Technology Association’s Board of Directors
Alexandria, Va. – February 18, 2009 – Avineon, Inc. (www.avineon.com), a successful provider of IT, geospatial, engineering and program management solutions, today announced that Akhlesh Kaushiva, Vice President of Commercial IT Services at Avineon, has been appointed to the Geospatial Information and Technology Association’s (GITA) Board of Directors. Kaushiva will serve a one-year term as an at-large board member for the non-profit educational association.
Originally founded in 1982 as AM/FM International, GITA is a professional association for members using geospatial technology to help operate, maintain and protect infrastructure. The organization provides geospatial solutions in education, information exchange and research on the use and benefits of geospatial information and technology for worldwide communications. Members include utility and telecommunication companies as well as the public sector.
“GITA’s rich history in promoting geospatial information technology has laid the foundation for advancement in the worldwide geospatial infrastructure,” said Akhlesh Kaushiva. “I look forward to working with fellow board members and organization members and utilizing my knowledge in utility IT systems to further advance the association’s mission.”
Kaushiva holds extensive experience in implementing and integrating major utility IT systems including outage management (OMS), mobile dispatch (MDS) and geographic information (GIS) and has been involved in the evaluation of automated metering infrastructure (AMI), meter data management systems (MDS) and distribution automation (DA). He leads Avineon’s business intelligence and business process management efforts for the company’s growing commercial sector.
