4 Prototyping, Pre-Production, Model-Making, and Fabrication Support (Zones 1 - 7)

4.1 AMSEC / SAIC (Zones 1, 4, 5)

Developed design drawings, including Ship Installation Drawings (SIDs) for installation of shipboard systems including prototype systems/equipment. Performed equipment functional analyses to determine failure/removal rates, part level essentialities, etc. (Level of analysis dependent upon complexity of each system/equipment addition and/or change).

4.2 LCE (Zones 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7)

Established a fuel nozzle development program with major fuel nozzle vendor that allowed for the continued improvement of fuel nozzles based on operational performance, failure modes and effects analysis and reverse engineering. This task included the engineering development of a new nozzle, and the manufacturing of a prototype, under LCE supervision, for testing. LCE developed and executed a test plan for the prototype nozzle, and based on the test results, assisted the vendor in the development of modifications
